Triangles – What do they mean?

Triangles – What do they mean?

Have you ever traveled on an airbus aircraft and wonder why there are triangles inside the cabin over certain windows.

The triangles over the windows on an Airbus aircraft are reference markers known as “black triangles” or “dark triangles.” They serve an important operational purpose for the cabin crew and maintenance personnel. These markers indicate the windows from which the wing’s leading edge and engine nacelles are most visible. This is crucial for visual inspections during flight to check for ice accumulation, damage, or other abnormalities on the wings and engines.

In case of an emergency or irregular situation, such as an engine fire or suspected wing damage, the flight crew can quickly locate these marked windows to visually assess the condition of the aircraft’s critical components. The strategic placement of these markers helps ensure that any necessary inspections can be performed promptly and effectively.
