Drone Safety

Drone Safety

I’ve been flipping through the news this morning and I thought I’d write a little blog about drones. I’ve seen many fabulous photos and videos using drone technology and they look absolutely stunning but used incorrectly and in the wrong places can be extremely dangerous.

If you are lucky enough to live close to an airport you may think it’s a good idea to get an Ariel shot of the airport. Please do think again. Flying a drone in an airport sector known as a Flight Restriction Zone is strictly prohibited. In a recent news article a drone operator was flying his drone around the 5km boundary from the runway. The operator had his drown seized and now faces prosecution. The use of drones in these flight restriction zones are for flights that are authorised and approved by NATS Air Traffic Control.

A special thanks to Jonathan Creaser who very kindly provided the photo for this blog of his own personal drone.
