Runway Rush: 1,700 Runners Race Through Gatwick Airport

Around 1,700 runners participated in a 10k race held within a restricted section of Gatwick Airport. The event, which took place at 11:00 BST on Sunday, involved runners traversing the entire length of the main runway, with planes landing and taking off mere meters away. Organizers highlighted the unique opportunity for runners of all levels, from elites to beginners, to experience running within the airport confines. The race, themed around aviation, commenced and concluded at the Gatwick Aviation Museum. Paul Prothero from Tadworth emerged as the winner. Gatwick Airport expressed its support for Run Gatwick as a means to raise funds for local charities.
