Welcome to Yeovilton

Welcome to Yeovilton

For many of you who don’t know many of my family live down in the south west of England in the beautiful county of Somerset. Famous for many great things like the cider and many great museums this one you may not be familiar with is the Fleet Air Arm museum based at RNAS Yeovilton.

What is RNAS Yeovilton

As detailed on the airfields website RNAS Yeovilton is one of the Navy’s two principal air bases, and one of the busiest military airfields in the UK. It is home to more than 100 aircraft operated on both front-line squadrons and training units, including the Fleet Air Arm Wildcat Force and the Commando Helicopter Force, plus vintage aircraft of the RN Historic Flight.

The Fleet Air Arm Museum

This is a great day out for all the family and is a museum devoted to the history of British Naval Aviation. It has a vast collection of civil aircraft G-BSST second Concorde to fly and the first British example. Flown to RNAS Yeovilton in 1976 it opened to the visitors in July that year its been on display to the public ever since.
