Why is there a hole in an aircraft window

The small hole you see in some airplane windows is called a “breather hole” or “bleed hole.” It serves a specific purpose in regulating the pressure between the two panes of the window. The outer pane of an aircraft window is exposed to lower pressure at high altitudes, while the inner pane is pressurized to cabin pressure. The breather hole allows the pressure to equalize between the two panes, preventing the inner pane from breaking due to the pressure difference. It also helps to prevent fogging or condensation between the panes.
