Have you ever looked at an jet aircraft engine and noticed the white spiral painted in the centre on the turbofan. Although they look very pretty they serve a great purpose. Not all aircraft are fitted with them as they are not a legal requirement. They show crew members when the blades are stationary, and also help keep birds away from the engines during the flight.
